Alejandra Gutierrez

I am dedicated to educating others about the importance of nutrition and self-acceptance, helping to create a culture that values health over appearance

My journey into the dietetics profession was shaped by both personal and generational experiences with diet culture. Initially, I aspired to pursue a career in sports science and professional sports, driven by a love for athletics and performance. However, it didn’t take long to realize that nutrition is a foundational component of many aspects of life, from physical health to mental well-being. This led me to shift focus toward nutrition, where I felt a more significant impact could be made.

Fueled by the determination to promote a healthier, more balanced approach to food and body image for both the general population and athletes, I pursued an education in exercise science and human nutrition at UT Austin and Texas State University. Throughout my academic journey, I completed rotations and internships with the UFC Performance Institute and various outpatient practices that grew my interest in working with individuals looking to optimize their nutrition, performance, and quality of life minus the diet culture.

Today, I am dedicated to educating others about the importance of nutrition and self-acceptance, helping to create a culture that values health over appearance. With a client-centered approach, I focus on meeting individuals where they are, utilizing inclusive and weight-neutral care that empowers clients to embrace their bodies and make informed dietary choices. I look forward to working with the Latinx population and elite athletes, helping them navigate their nutrition and find approaches that honor their bodies, culture, and preferences.

When not working as a dietitian, I enjoy training like a competitive athlete, sharpening boxing skills, and indulging in creative hobbies like painting and baking. I also cherish quiet evenings spent watching movies with my cat or trying new coffee shops with loved ones and friends.

My pronouns are she/her.
